Greg Farshtey wrote much of the story for Bionicle, and also wrote books and various material for Ninjago, Hero factory, and a little Legends of Chima. He hasn't been able to talk with the fanbase in this way for a while, so seeing him here is a real treat for Bionicle, Ninjago, and Hero factory fans alike!
(I hope your Aunt feels better!)

Firox555 | 2013-07-24 08:45 UTC–5 PermalinkI have some more questions, Greg, if you don't mind answering.
1. When the Ignika turned Dekar into the new Hydraxon, did he lose all connection with his element of Stone? Dekar used to be a Po-Matoran - was his element buried, like his memories, or did he simply cease to have any relation with Stone? Could he re-obtain that relation, somehow?
2. Can either Hydraxon wear Kanohi?
3. Do you think that it would be possible at all for the new Hydraxon to ever unlock his memories of being Dekar?
4. I know that some Order of Mata Nui members, such as Trinuma, are still living. Is the Order of Mata Nui still being held together, or have they split up for the time being, now that Mata Nui is dormant and Teridax defeated?
5. Were Rahkshi (or the process of making them) invented for the Makuta by the Great Beings, or did Makuta invent them?
6. I never fully understood Kapura - I've heard conflicting rumors about how he gets around by moving so slowly. Isn't he just an ordinary Ta-Matoran? He can't teleport, right?
Thanks a lot!

I have been writing since fourth grade, and writing professionally since I was out of college. The main thing we look for when we are recruiting writers is whether they have experience writing for kids. |

I have no plans to add new elements to BIONICLE. |
MtMNC | 2013-07-24 12:23 UTC–5 PermalinkHi again!
Would it be possible to form a Toa Nui (a fusion of six Toa)?
Also, since when the Great Disks were combined, they became the Disk of Time, is is possible that the fusion of six elements results in Time-based powers? For example, would Turaga/Toa Nui have limited/a bit more powered Time powers, respectively? Following this, could it be that Toa Seals are imbued with the power of Time (maybe the pain caused by trying to break a seal is the result of rapid aging)?
Continuing on with the Time motif, if Time had a prefix would it be Va? I imagine it's trademarked already (Bohrok Va), and linguistically it could mean "time" as a prefix and "helper" as a suffix (and I'm sure people would have fun figuring out why that's the case over on BZPower
Finally, would it be reasonable to conclude that the Dark Hunter Silence is called Shelek, the Great Disks are called Kanoka Nui, etc? I realize some of those names are in English so they are more easily marketable (Great Disks, presumably), so they aren't confused with other things (Great Temple vs. Kini-Nui), and because the words didn't exist at their creation (Silence), but it's interesting to think that we could translate names that have traditionally been given to us in English into Matoran. |
beachfamily12 | 2013-07-24 17:06 UTC–5 PermalinkHi Mr.Farshtey
I was wondering
How do you come up with the idea's for your books?
If they stop making Ninjago movies and sets will you still write more books?
I was thinking of writting a story to post on the message boards could you give me some tips on writting my story?
Thank you for your time |

1) It depends on the book and whether it needs to reflect main story or it can be a side story. 2) If Ninjago gets cancelled, the odds are the publisher would cancel the book line as well. Books exists to help raise awareness and thus set sales, if there are no sets to sell, no point in doing books. 3) What kind of tips do you need? |
ScribeGT6817 | 2013-07-24 22:54 UTC–5 Permalink
1) I believe the official position on this way back when was that the Toa Nui was a myth. 2) No. We have already seen that combining all six elements created crystallized proto with a Toa seal, it was not a time based event.
3) That sounds likea linguistic nightmare. I'll pass. Since there is no Toa of Time or Time tribe, no need for a prefix for this.
4) In most cases, English terms were used because they were more accessible to the casual fan, especially the casual fan watching movies, and because we were limited in the number of new terms we had available to assign to things.

If you have specific questions, I can try to answer them. But the BIONICLE story lasted nine years so I doubt I can explain the whole thing in one go. |
