floopy5432 | 2016-08-20 14:07 UTC–5 PermalinkHello, Mr. Farshtey!
Although I'm not into Bionicle or LEGO Ninjago, I am a fan of you.
I have a few questions I hope you can answer, too. 1- What motivated you to answer, and why for 3 years? 2- Is Bionicle/LEGO Ninjago worth it to watch, and if you think so, can you give me a quick catchup of the first few seasons? 3- What motivated you to work for LEGO and make all those books?
Thanks! Bye! |

slipperysnakeb… | 2016-08-20 22:55 UTC–5 PermalinkWonder if I... Gave an oreo To Teridax, How would the story go? Would he still just plot and scheme? Would he make some fun rahi To entertain the toa he befriended? Would he not wind up (smashed)?
Wonder if I... Gave an oreo To a Skakdi, Who is know as, "Double?" Would he not act so insane? Would he give himself a new name? I've just got this feeling that he might turn out all right.
'Cause cream does wondrousthings inside a chocolate sandwich dream.
If I gave 'em to Takea sharks, would they share 'em with lava eels? Would they call up a doom viper for a friendly meal?
Wonder if I gave an oreo.. Wonder if I gave an oreo... What if I gave An oreo To you?
Hey Greg, I just re-wrote a song... anyways! I have a few questions! 1) If you were granted toa-power and could control one element, what would it be? 2) What kanohi would you wear? 3) If you were a makuta, what would your favorite kraata power be? 4) Someone knocks at your door... its your favorite character from the (red-stuff)shadow series! Who is it and what do you do? |

Buggster | 2016-08-22 17:43 UTC–5 PermalinkGreg, I was trying to figure out how the Kanoka combination system works for mask powers, and I think I have a few Masks assigned, but I wanted to check my results here to see how accurate they actually are. Please let me know the results to each one separately.
Mask of Incomprehension: Reconstitute at Random + Enlarge: mirrors the Kanoka used in the Mask of Translation. Weaken might also be in the place of Reconstitute at Random, but I doubt it.
Mask of Healing: Regenerate + Remove Poison: This seems somewhat obvious to me, but one of the discs used could also be an Enlarge disc.
Mask of Aging: Teleport + Weaken + Shrink/Reconstitute at Random: I am unsure as to the last mask, but this combination does seem like something that would Speed up the targets aging, causing weakness.
Mask of Truth: Remove Poison + Enlarge + Freeze: Similar to the Mask of Translation, but it grabs onto a specific part of the statement, in order to verify the authenticity of it.
Mask of Mutation: Regenerate + Reconstitute at Random: The masks power seems cancerous in nature, changing the target, and then causing the changes to grow and spread.
This is all I was able to figure out right now. Something that might help in the future would be to know other masks that have the Remove Poison disc as a component to them.
Another small question is: what would happen if two toa discs were used to create a mask? What about using a toa disc with a normal disc? (Fire + Teleport, for example) |
bubseylegoguy | 2016-08-22 22:10 UTC–5 PermalinkMr. Farshtey, do you have plans to write any books for Nexo Knights? |

No, I haven't been asked to do any of those. I think they may be being written in-house by the publishers. |
OnionShark | 2016-08-23 12:53 UTC–5 PermalinkHi, Mr. Farshtey. I have a few questions about Bionicle for you.
1) In the third comic of the Glatorian series, "A Hero Reborn", Gelu is attacked by a group of Skrall. After he hides behind a rock, one of them says to the others "Drag him out of there... piece by piece if you have to!", and Gelu responds by saying "Now that's a truly disgusting suggestion!" This makes me wonder, does Gelu understand the Skrall language? Or was that Skrall talking in the Agori language? If so, why? Could it be that he was trying to scare Gelu? 2) Is it possible that the Bahrag created some new Bohrok-Kal after they were freed by the Toa Nuva? 3) In the second chapter of The Yesterday Quest, after Orde explains that all of the other Matoran/Toa/Turaga of Psionics were made female because the Great Beings thought that such a power needed to be in gentler hands, Chiara fries a nearby lizard with a bolt of electricity and says "Right, we females are so gentle after all." Why did she end the life of an innocent creature just to make a point? Couldn't she have just shot a bolt at Orde like she did in the previous chapter? 4) Speaking of Psionics, if the Great Beings thought that Orde was a danger with his powers, why didn't they just deactivate him? It was before the awakening so he wouldn't be considered a sentient being. 5) On page 823 of this thread you confirmed that the Great Beings are part of the Glatorian Species. When I tried to edit their page on BS01, I was told that in the past you had wanted to keep their species a mystery, and that you probably just forgot. Is that true, or was it an intentional retcon?
Have a nice day |
BBricksStudios | 2016-08-23 20:09 UTC–5 PermalinkSorry, Greg! I know I am popping up a lot, but... 1) Can Adaptive Armor potentially make a Toa Nuva a Toa Mata to adapt to wearing the Golden Armor (in Tahu's case)? 2) If so, why does the Ignika devolve him into a Mata, was that his destiny? To degenerate without the adaptive armor?! 3) What in the name of Mata Nui will Velika get up to next? 4) Where is Artakha? Did he use an Olmak to pop into G2 and operate under the psuedonym "Ekimu"? 5) If I continue the unfinished serials, could you canonize them (legally)? 6) You got involved with LEGO in 2000 as editor of the magazine, right? 7) And you wrote Tales of the Masks in '03, where you then were officially writing the books/Serials, correct? 8) As editor, I assume you pick entries to the Cool creations contest. So why so why do I see the MOCS there having no creativity at all, rather they contain a hodgepoge of entire sets?! Also, I have not seen anything with Bionicle OR CCBS since 2011. Why? If you do not pick the entries, I am positive you know the one who does. Please ask that person. 9) Why were Artakha and Karzahni created? 10) What is outside of the Solis Magna System? Hero Factory? Fully organic beings? The LEGO Movie? 11) (Dumb Question Alert) Will there be a Bionicle G3? Oh...If there is, you can't answer that. Whoops! 12) Whenever someone asks you that you will finish the serials, and then you cut that part out in your answer, does that mean that you ARE writing the serials and you just can't confirm it. Cross this out for yes. Do not cross this out for yes. Leave this out for yes. Do anything or do nothing for yes (Got it).

mrcqm | 2016-08-25 00:07 UTC–5 PermalinkHey Greg, recently I've been thinking of how Matoran can essentially be built and dissassembled quite easily, particularly by themselves. And I have to ask:
Is the process of rebuilding a Matoran while it's still alive painful?
How exactly does a Matoran go about rebuilding himself into a larger form?
How come the Matoran of Voya Nui did not think of rebuilding themselves?
Do Matoran usually remember having been rebuilt?
What is being rebuilt by Karzahni like as opposed to a Matoran doing it him/herself?
Buried, it seems!
In addition, I have one or two other unrelated questions:
1. Would Human scientists consider protodermis to be a seperate element on the periodic table if they knew of its existence?
2. Most organic life is "carbon based". A being comprised of rock would supposedly be "silicon based". Given that protodermis is an element, do you think that Matoran would be considered to be "protodermis based" life, or, are they more of a mix of protodermis based and carbon based life? (According to weird science of course XD).
3. Would antidermis be considered to be a unique element on the periodic table, again assuming human scientists knew of its existence? 4. Does that make the Makuta species "Antidermis based" life?
Yes, I've thought of everything XD |
jesusHERCULESc… | 2016-08-25 13:25 UTC–5 PermalinkI'm not Greg, but i read this forum often enough and this question has been asked dozens of times. Greg wrote the story for the sets that LEGO made that year. As such, the story was never really layed out a great distance into the future, and really depended on new toys to keep it fresh (I know that the idea of having Mata Nui be a robot was planned right at the start, but A. that wasn't Greg and B. that was when Bionicle was only meant to be a three year line, and its not unreasonable to have an idea of how the story is going to end when its that short). When LEGO pulled the plug the first time and no new sets where being released, it became difficult of justify continuing the story of a line that simply didn't exist anymore, especially when there was other lines that needed working on.
Its also worth noting that, while im certain Greg enjoyed writing Bionicle, he is still a employed writer, he's not really doing it for himself. There isn't really any point doing work for a company when they aren't asking for that work to be done anymore. Also, since he's a LEGO employee he can't continue the story in an unofficial fashion via fan fiction. |
slipperysnakeb… | 2016-08-25 16:24 UTC–5 Permalink2) Who are your favorite and least favorite ninja? 3) Could Legendary elements have been different in another bionicle universe? 4) Is Sensei Wu really, "Not amused?" 5) If the Vahi from another dimension broke in the prime bionicle reality, would time break? Also, if the Ignika from another universe came over during the Makutaverse, would life be destroyed? 6) What is your favorite ninja weapon, as in, to have IRL? |
