I don't know about that. Hasbro allowed Transformers G1 to continue some years ago in comic form, and it really caught on, and is one of the most popular and sucessful of their businesses now. And it's still going on. I know LEGO is a toy company and selling toys is a priority for them, but Hasbro is also a toy company, and selling toys is also a priority for them. LEGO and Hasbro are probably very different, but if they can do it, maybe LEGO would do the same for us in the future. Though for Hasbro it took, what, like 20-something years? Joking Hmmm, and BIONICLE is actually going to be that old in just a couple years now Surprised Wow, I feel just a bit old lol.

I have a good friend who is an expert on Transformers, and according to him, there was no point when there was a comic and no toys coming out. When the toy line was not being produced, the comics ended.

That is not true. The comic series "The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye" that's going on at the moment (and is about to end, but it will be continued in a new series) are continueing the G1 storyline right now. They are written by James Roberts and published by IDW. They are insanely popular among Transfans. Maybe your friend haven't heard of this series?

There is no contradiction here. Although the comic does not reflect currenty story/toys, the BRAND is still extremely active with regular toy releases and movies -- and the comic promotes the brand as a whole. There isn't going to be an active BIONICLE brand after 2016, so there is no brand to promote.

Why can't employees simply write fan fiction and put it on the Internet? It wouldn't have to be "officially" canon (as in in the eyes of the LEGO Group), but it would certainly be accepted by the rejoicing fan community as the most canon material we'll probably ever have about the continuation of the brilliant G1.

And on that note, would it be possible for You to simply tell what was going to happen on this forum, if the fan fiction -writing is not allowed? It seems You can still canonize elements of the story here; at least I would really like it if You could tell at least something about the continuation... Few things are as frustrating as an unfinished story left hanging indefinitely, though I can imagine the situation is very difficult.

@hexjr

Why do the employees have to write fanfiction? Couldn't we do that ourselves?

No offence. Wink

What I meant was to comment on when Mr. Farshtey said he'd want to continue the story but that as an employee, he couldn't write fanfiction. I understand that he cannot continue the serials as before, but it's hard to imagine that he wouldn't be able to simply write the rest of the story as ordinary fanfiction (considering he can still canonize elements of the story), in which case the fanbase would recognize as official canon even though it's technically fanfiction. I'm not asking for completely new story arcs, it just would be pleasant if the loose ends were tied up Smile
And if he truly is not able to write the story himself, I was wondering if he could tell us the synopsis and assign someone of the fandom, who is not an employee, to finish the serials...

How do you feel about unfairly being blamed for everything wrong with old bionicle?

1) For the same reason I could not join a LEGO fan site and not identify myself as a LEGO employee -- I can't just go on there as a fan. If you are an employee here, you are always speaking for the company if you are on a LEGO-related site.

2) I don't do outlines. I have no idea what is happening next in the story. These things develop as I write.

I'm not aware that I was being so blamed Smile But ... I am sure some of it is justified, cause nobody is perfect. At the same time, some of it is overblown. I have seen people act like they HAD to read all the books or HAD to read the serials to "keep up with the story," which isn't true. The comics and the movies covered main story. You only had to read the extra stuff to be able to chat about it on fan sites.

And, of course, some of it comes from people misunderstanding my role. I wrote the bulk of the fiction for BIONICLE -- so if they have problems with execution, that's on me -- but as far as main story goes, I was part of a team and we all worked on it. It wasn't springing from my head. And, then, there are people who complain about things -- like the move from Mata Nui to Metru Nui -- which were always part of the plan for the line and were planned before I came to work here.

Some people want someone to be angry at. I can't do anything about that. That's life. I was no happier about G1 ending than they were, but I couldn't do anything more about it than they could. And I understand their dismay about the serials not ending -- and I agree with it -- but there were reasons that happened. If I had it to do over again, I probably would have just said no when asked to write them in the first place.

Hello Mr Greg

1. With the golden armor, Tahu has the 42 powers of Rahkshi? The half of the 42 powers? or only a dozen?

2. Axonn has already fought a Makuta when he made his conquests before he joins the order of mata nui? If so, he won?

Hello, Mr. Farshtey. Would it be possible for you to (if you only have the time) read the "A Thousand Years Untold 2" and "Memoirs of the Dead" stories and perhaps declare them either canon or non-canon? Their current semi-canonicity seems quite confusing...

Thanks, but I don't read fan fiction. It's a long-standing policy.

Hey again, dear Greg!

In the Farshtey Feed it has been stated that both Mazeka and Vultraz rebuilt themselves into larger forms, explaining why they are larger in set form. Is it safe to assume Vican has also been rebuilt?

Also, how did the Farshtey Feed work, who wrote it? Who asked questions?

Thanks! Smile
