2) No
3) Probably not. Av-Matoran were built using a different design.

1) Doesn't have to be their element. Matoran on Mata Nui absorbed energy from fish.
2) Yes. They have organic tissue, and organic tissue requires sleep for various reasons.
1) Can they choose to absorb energy from their element instead though? That would make Le- and Av-matoran great at travelling, not needing to bring fish or something for energy.
No. Remember that these Matoran were not designed to operate outside of the MU, and within the MU, there were charging stations they could use to get energy. So there was no reason to design them to absorb energy from ice and fire and air.

Just a quick question: did the Matoran of Metru Nui suffer any ill consequences from spending 1000 years on the tropical Mata Mui? For example, a car is a tough piece of machinery (well, most are), and they can sit outside in the elements and perform just fine. However, keeping your car in a controlled environment is the best way to maintain it. Thanks!

- Was evolution of Makuta from the solid Antidermis to the gaseous form of it planned by the Great Beings or it just happened accidentally (as the evolution in standart terms)?
- If Antidermis forms of life are able to evolve from solid form to gaseous form, is the same, at least theoretically, possible for the Protodermis forms of life?
- Are Protodermis, E. Protodermis and Antidermis periodic elements or rather some kinds of compounds?
