Hi Greg,

Which character (or characters) in the Bionicle universe did you most enjoy writing stories for, and why?

Nearing the end of Bionicle's lifespan, how did you find the experience of continuously adding to an already incredibly complex story? Was it much more stressful writing it than it was before the story became so complicated, or did you enjoy the extra challenge?

Thank you for all of your stories. I loved reading about Bionicle as a kid.

Hi OrangeTornado,

Greg, I've got one question about Kanohi powers:

Regarding the Kanohi Akaku, Mask of X-Ray Vision, and Kanohi Arththron, Mask of Sonar - do these Kanohi actually use X-Rays and Sonar (as we know them) to function, or do they function in some other way?

Thanks a lot!

hi, Mr. Farshtey! i had a question- in bionicle, did Hewkii and Macku have an intimate relationship? i ask this because i have always believed that they did, and i just wanted some confirmation.

thank you very much for your time,

                                                                Toa Feron

In MNOG, the Bohrok Animations, and MNOGII, Maku and Huki have what is clear as day love for each other. Since then, however, Greg ruled their relationship uncanon, stating that beings in the MAtoran Universe are incapable of love beyond that of a friend caring about a friend (despite the fact that these two "friends" nearly kissed). I would like to ask why you decided to make it non-canon after it being canon for years.

Simple. What was in the online  games was not approved by the story team, nor was there ever anything in story bibles saying these characters had this relationship. So it was not "canon." It was done to add some characterization into the game, but logically it made no sense, so I felt no obligation to maintain something that was illogical.

thank you very much! though this does answer my question in an official capacity, i would like your personal opinion. in your eyes, as the creator of this amazing universe. in your opinion, did they have anything intimate? after all, these arent just mindless robots; they have feelings, and why not love?

thank you again for your time,

                                                                  Toa Feron

If I remember correctly, almost all the characters in BIONICLE are brothers and sisters with each other.. Just pointing that out..

no, the TOA called eachother brother and sister, not the matoran or other species.

Hello Mr. Farshtey!

I would like to know which series of toas (Toa Metru, Toa Mata, Toa Hordika, ect.) do you like the most?

Mine is the Toa Mata (Lewa for the win!)

if you go to LEGO shop and type bionicle you get "Coming Soon" message does this mean  bionicle is coming in 2015?

Hello Greg!

I have a question regarding bionicle,

when you search up Bionicle it directs you to a coming soon page, this intrigues me. With recent leaks and all sorts of information setting a picture in Bionicle fans heads such as myself that bionicle is "No doubt" coming back. does this worry you and your work mates? No onehundred percent official confirmation is announced which leads me to believe that LEGO is keeping whatever Bionicle information they have to themselves. So if Bionicle would come back it's the pressure to try and block rumors for you and your workmates and if all the bionicle rumors are fake are you worried about your fans being disappointed and bringing an uproar of hate.

Thank you!

1. What exactly activates the adaptive armour? I know it adapts to the environment, but what defines which environment it adapts to. For example, would it adapt to a city such as Metru Nui, or does it have some sort of neutral form for a general environment.

2. I thought of this reading The Powers That Be.

Kopaka looked up. The star was in the sky now above Spherus Magna, and had been since the arrival of the Mata Nui robot on the planet. With the robot destroyed, the red star would not be summoned into use again. Yet still it hung among the true stars, waiting, waiting for a call that would never come.

“If only we could get up there …” Kopaka said, more to himself than anyone else.
“The hunting would be poor,” said Gaardus.
“Not for what we’re seeking,” Pohatu said. “Doesn’t matter, though, neither one of us is equipped for space flight.”
What is interesting here is what Pohatu says at the end. With their adaptive armour, why does it matter if they are equipped for it or not? Can't they just fly as high as the could by some means, either by their Phantoka flying stuff or another means, then have their armour automatically adapt to the space environment?
3.  Lewa's armour adapted in space, so when he was teleported to Bota Magna did his armour change as well?
4. Would it be possible for the Karda Nui forms to be a standard 'high speed form', or was it just a form for the swamp/high altitudes?

I think this got lost.

1) It's automatic

2) No. Their flying armor only works in atmosphere, it would  not be able to get them into space. It doesn't have sufficient thrust to overcome gravity.

3) Yes

4) The armor adapts to environments, not powers, so you would not have a high speed form.

Hey Mr.Farshtey, I have a quesiton about the Skakdi species.

Vezok have a elemental power of water, but he is a male. So, in the Skakdi species, the gender isn't defined by the elemental power, contrary to the Matoran species?

1. In Gali Nuva's blog she uses an Akaku combined with the telescope. Is it an Akaku Nuva?

2. Is the tradition of giving Copper Mask to winners of sports carried on to Spherus Magna?

3. In Dark Mirror Takanuva tries to put on his Kanohi Avohkii on Takua to see if he would transform into a Toa of Light. Nothing happened. Why is this? Is it possible that it is because the code in the main universe's Mask of Light is different than the Toa Empire's Mask of Light?

4. If Takua donned the Avohkii prior to going through that adventure and wound up at the Kini Nui would he still transform into a Toa of Light.

5. Since Takanuva changed his name from Takua to Takanuva upon his transformation into Toa, in the possible event he transformed into Turaga, would he change his name to something else?

6. Does tar exist in either the main universe or the Spherus Magna alternate universe? Because Vezon interprets 'Tarduk' as someone saying 'Tar, duck!'

7. Is Miserix evil? Does he still honour the Great Spirit Mata Nui?

1) Yes.

2) Right now, sports are not a priority on SM, and they have no ability to make new masks.

3) No, it's because Takua in that universe is not destined to become a Toa

4) Yes, but not the moment he donned it. It happens when it is destined to happen.

5) No. The name change was something we did so everyone wouldn't know Takua was the seventh Toa. There would be no need for us to change it again.

6) Yes

7) Miserix is not a nice person, he is simply  more practical than the other Makuta were.

 8. Since Mata Nui exists within the Ignika, would he control wether to mutate someone or no when a person touches the Ignika?

9. Could the Ignika possibly resumed its countdown on Bara Magna?

10. Why has the Ignika stayed gold on Spherus Magna?

11. Could it turn to Silver, or even black on Spherus Magna?

12. Does the mind of the Ignika and the mind of Mata Nui reside in the mask?

13. When the Ignika sacrificed his body, can he make another?

8) Yes

9) No. There would be no need. That countdown only applies to beings living within the MN universe, and that universe no longer exists.

10) Because that is how the set designers and movie makers decided  it should look

11) Again, no. It was programmed to monitor the balance in the Mata Nui robot, and the robot no longer exists, so that function is no longer relevant.

12) Yes, but Mata Nui's is dominant

13) Yes

More questions.

1. Can a Matoran wear a Copper Mask of Victory over his/her Kanohi?

2. BS01 says the Hewkii is a recipient of a Copper Mask, was this mask recieved from a Kohlii match?

3. After his transformation into Toa, does he still have it or has sentimental value towards it of some sort?

4. Did the two Ga-Koro winners of the great Kohlii Tournament win copper masks?

5. Did Macku get Copper Masks from Ngalawa Racing?

6. Can a Matoran have more than one copper mask?

7. Can Toa or Turaga recieve copper masks?

8. Would you know in which comics/books/sources were the information about when/who/where the Copper Masks were given out? I see all this info about Copper Masks but I don't know where the original stuff came from.

9. From where did Kopeke get his Copper Mask? Was it from the Huai Snowball Sling?

10. Was Onepu's Copper Mask from Ussal Racing?

11. Is the GBA game BIONICLE: Quest for the Toa canon?

1) Don't know

2) No idea

3) I assume so

4) Again, I would assume that

5) No idea

6) Yes

7) Toa and Turaga generally do not compete in sports, they are too busy, so it's unlikely

8) I don't know, I assume some of this came from the online games. I never did anything with it, since my focus was really the Toa,  not the Matoran

9-10) Again, don't know

11) I really don't recall the game at all, so I can't speak to this

Also, is the Tahu Stars set in a desert form or a default form?

I don't think the set designers had the adaptive armor in mind when they made the Stars sets, they were more tributes to what we had done over the last 10 years.
