They pretty much develop themselves, SG. I will usually start off with a first scene in mind, pretty clear in my head ... and as I write the characters, and they start talking, I get to know them and can build on who they are. I never write personality profiles beforehand ... I just write and let them go.

My guess is Metus is feeling like he is at something of a crossroads in his life right now. His plotting did not get him anywhere and being turned into a snake was pretty traumatic, even if he has recovered now. Greg, I have another couple of questions for you, if you don't mind. These have been puzzling me for a while:
Firstly, you defined the intrinsic ability of Matoran of Iron (how they manifest their element) as "greater physical endurance". You defined the ability of Matoran of Gravity as "resistance to high pressure". What is the difference between these two? Are Matoran of Gravity completely inferior, or does their ability include something special that might balance them out against Matoran of Iron?
Secondly (this is a bit more than one question), Do Great Beings have physical bodies? Can they exist without them? Did Velika obtain the "unused" body of a Po-Matoran for his own purposes, or could he have shapeshifted his own body into a Matoran form?
