Okay, that's what I would have guessed, although you could on MLN(I was Figmentia's friend and MKM had lots of user friends).

How do you friend people?
On the top right-hadn corner of the page you are on right now, click on Edit Profile (you should know where that is). Once you are there, look in the bottom left-hand corner, where are the Widgets (the square icons) are. Then, click on the blue one entitled "Friends". Then, after it has loaded, type your friend's username in the box. Click Enter. Nothing else will happen, until your friend accepts the friend request.
